There are a number of ways that you can get involved in the NVI. Either as a start-up affiliated to one of the NVI nodes located around the UK, or as a incubation centre, research facility, science park or academic institute wanting to be an NVI node or as a corporate business wanting to leverage the diverse expertise of the NVI's start-up community, for a current business challenge.
For an entrepreneur or small business, output and results mean everything. However, to grow a business, owners must often juggle their time effectively between many pressing priorities.
Time is money and being in the right place at the right time is key to success. The NVI programme enables entrepreneurs and small businesses to leverage the benefits of its online community through Cisco’s collaboration technologies from any NVI node within the UK to:
- Access a UK-wide innovation eco-system, irrespective of physical location
- Have access to a broad innovation and entrepreneurial program to help accelerate their business
- Collaborate, maintain and build national and international contacts or business relationships
- Access innovation competitions, investor opportunities, potential customers and research bids
By leveraging the NVI, start-ups are potentially able to build and maintain business relationships quicker and with ease, as well as develop their new ideas with the support of the online start-up community, resulting in quicker project development and route to market.
Potential New Nodes
Node membership of the NVI represents being part of a network of industry-leading innovation organisations, with an extensive start-up community that extends from the North to the South of the UK. In the North, Sunderland Software City, Manchester Science Partnerships and Innovation Birmingham represent the NVI and support start-ups enabling growth of the technology sector, and in the South, IDEALondon and Digital Catapult, London, help UK businesses develop and expand.
The NVI supports UK innovation and entrepreneurship by leveraging each of the NVI node’s area of expertise, whether it be industry contacts – local and international, customer introductions, VC and angel investors, industry or technology focused events and business mentorship.
Given the wide geographical presence of the NVI and diverse number of technologies and industries supported by each node, the NVI is able to deliver a much broader and deeper programme offering than one organisation could alone.
